Nature Connects features stunning LEGO® artistry of Sean Kenney
I came across a 2014 news story out of Miami, when Zoo Miami hosted Creatures of Habitat, a traveling exhibition created by LEGO® artist Sean Kenney. The traveling exhibit, originally hosted at the Philadelphia Zoo, depicted nine animal species whose habitats are stressed–from a harlequin frog to a polar bear. Over a six-month period, Sean used more than 250,000 LEGO® bricks to build the animals. He used 95,000 bricks to build the polar bear!
So while looking to see if Creatures of Habitat was still making the rounds of the nation’s zoos, I discovered that Sean has another exhibit that is traveling the U.S. through 2018, Nature Connects. Here’s a description of the exhibition:
Nature Connects is an award-winning, record-breaking exhibition now touring North America. Built from nearly one million LEGO pieces, this show features over 50 larger-than-life sculptures built with LEGO bricks by New York artist Sean Kenney.
Now, that sounds like something to see! It looks like the closest it is scheduled to show near Tucson is Salt Lake City in the summer of 2018. There are still openings for zoos, gardens, and museums to book the exhibit, so maybe there is a way to get this fantastic display of LEGO® artistry to Arizona!
